Almost everyone loves fishing.\u00a0 But which type of fishing is better, saltwater or freshwater?\u00a0 That answer will probably vary depending on who you ask.\u00a0 Here are the pros and cons of each to help you to decide for yourself!<\/p>\n

\"Saltwater

Saltwater Fishing<\/h2><\/p>\n

Let’s start with saltwater fishing.\u00a0 There are several advantages to fishing in saltwater over freshwater.\u00a0 First of all, the ocean contains a much larger variety of fish and they are mostly bigger than freshwater fish.\u00a0 There are many impressive catches such as sharks or marlins.\u00a0 It can also be easier to catch fish, especially when fishing off the beach or from a pier because the fish are attracted to all the bait in the water from other people fishing.\u00a0 You can also go deep sea fishing, which has a great sense of adventure to it.\u00a0 The main disadvantage to saltwater fishing is that you pretty much have to live near the coast for it to be practical.\u00a0 Most people will have to travel to go.\u00a0 Also, it is generally more expensive than freshwater fishing.\u00a0 Depending on what you are fishing for, you will need a medium to heavy weight rod and reel.\u00a0 You will also need stronger line.\u00a0 The fish are also more picky when it comes to bait.\u00a0 Mostly you will need to use live bait as lures are not always as effective against saltwater fish.<\/p>\n

Freshwater Fishing<\/h2><\/p>\n

Freshwater fishing is generally a much more laid back style of fishing.\u00a0 The advantages are that most people will have access to a body of freshwater to fish in.\u00a0 The fish aren’t as picky on bait and lures can work very well.\u00a0\u00a0Due to its relaxed nature, it\u00a0is\u00a0better for beginners.\u00a0 The gear is cheaper and smaller rods with\u00a0lighter lines\u00a0can handle most freshwater fishing.\u00a0 On the down side, there\u00a0is much less variety in the types of fish compared to the ocean and the fish are generally smaller.<\/p>\n
