World Record: Most Water Skiers Behind One Boat

Clint

Holy Moly! The Most Skiers Behind One Boat Is...

You’ve been water skiing before, right? Ever been behind a boat with one or even two other water skiers?

Have you ever wondered what the world record is for the most water skiers behind one boat? 30? 50? More?

How about 145 people skiing behind a boat? Sounds crazy, right? Well, looks like they pulled it off in the “land down under.” Congrats to the Horsehead Water Ski Club in Strahan, Tasmania, Australia for pulling off the new world record back on January, 27 2012.

As you can tell from the picture below, it wasn’t just an ordinary ski boat pulling all those skiers, it was a 114 foot, 3000 HP World Heritage Cruises catamaran. It also took over 5 miles of ski rope to pull all 145 people!

This is one record that is going to be pretty hard to beat!

What was the previous world record?

As it turns out, the previous world record was also set by the same group of crazies from The Horsehead Water Ski Club in Australia. Back in 2010, they managed to pull 114 skiers. Prior to that, the world record stood at 100 skiers for 24 years (1986), and was set by the Cairns & District Powerboat and Ski Club in Trinity Inlet, Cairns .

Want to break the world record? No problem! Grab 150 friends, gas up your superyacht, tie on 5-6 miles of ski rope and hit the water. You’ll be in the Guinness World Book of Records in no time! Let us know once you’ve broken the record so we can update this blog post!
